Dental Product Manager

Position Description

Job Summary:
This Manager will lead the design, implementation, and launch of new products and product modifications across Dental, Vision and Ancillary business segments. Additionally, they will provide product management support to the General Managers for existing products. The incumbent will report to the Sr. Manager of Product Strategy & Development and will have significant interaction with Sr. Management.

1. Anticipate the impact of the changing healthcare and regulatory environment on existing market segments and products and propose strategies, tactics, and new or modified products accordingly
2. Lead cross functional teams in the research and analysis of new product concepts and product modification requests ultimately building a business case including product specifications
3. Responsible for monitoring product performance and position in designated markets and segments and for developing plans to improve upon those positions
4. Develop and manage work plans for the implementation and launch of new products and ultimately the transition of product ownership to operational owners
5. Facilitate internal communication and decision making for product-related issues
6. Provide product expertise on company initiatives and other projects/tasks
7. Manage and develop staff

Minimum Qualifications:
1. BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
2. Minimum 10 years of project management and product development experience in positions not necessarily in the health care/health insurance industry. Experience must include a minimum of 2-4 years of managerial experience.
3. Significant experience within the health care or health insurance industries and a demonstrated understanding of health insurance products to include benefits, risk management, distribution, and pricing concepts
4. Experience working with actuarial/underwriting, network contracting, marketing/sales, eligibility/billing, and claims functions and processes
5. Highly developed project management skills and demonstrated effectiveness in managing complex projects
6. Strong analytical, product design and implementation capabilities
7. Proven leadership, negotiation, and consensus-building skills
8. Proven ability to work under pressure with limited resources, competing priorities, and stringent deadlines
9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
10. Excellent interpersonal and human relationship skills
11. Strategic thinker (organization-wide focus) with sound business judgment
12. Competent in MS Office Products
13. Ability/willingness for limited overnight travel

Additional Qualifications Preferred:
1. MBA or MPH degree
2. Six or more years of health care/health insurance product development experience
3. Experience working in a regulated industry

Working Conditions:
Work is performed within a normal office environment with ambient temperatures and involving occasional reaching, stretching, bending and moving about.
